Krazy Kitchen
Invite everyone to bring a gift having to do with the Kitchen. Themed baskets
are always fun: Basket filled with cookie sheets, rolling pin, sprinkles,
mixes, cook books; Basket filled with Italian spices, Olive Oil, Pasta noodles,
Pepper Grinder.
Holiday Mood
Assign everyone a Holiday to coordinate their gift with. (Christmas, 4th of
July, April Fool’s)
Freshen up on
those ABCs
Assign each guest a letter of the alphabet. They are supposed to bring a gift
starting with the letter they were assigned.
Every Month
Each guest is assigned a month that they are supposed to get a gift to go
along with that month. (November: Turkey platter or roaster, January: Hot
chocolate & cookie recipe book, March: Spring colored dishtowels or garden
tools)
Raising the Barn
This is a great idea for someone building their home or fixing up an old home
for themselves. The idea is that the guests come and help work on the future
home. Asks guests to come ready to work, shovel in hand.
International
Tour
Assign guests a country to coordinate their gift with. Serve appetizers from
other countries: wontons, egg rolls, chips & salsa, pastries, etc.
Houseful of Rooms
Each guest is assigned a room in the house to bring a gift for. This helps
keep gifts from being duplicated.
Great Gift Certificates
Ask guests to bring gift certificates as their gift. (For the movies, favorite
restaurant, golf, et.
Stock the Pantry
Many newlyweds are starting from scratch and something everybody needs is
food. Have gifts be foods that can be stored. Another twist is to have everyone
bring a recipe and then all the non-perishable items in the recipe.
Spiced Up Shower
Spices are expensive to buy all at once. Help the bride out by throwing a
“Spiced up Shower.” Ask each guest to bring a recipe and then
all the spices that go in that recipe.
Crafts Galore!
For the girl who loves crafts! Throw a shower where everything is homemade
and crafty, from the invitations to the gifts to the decorations! To take
it a step further, do a craft during the bridal shower.
Bed & Breakfast
Remember slumber parties? Well, this is close and it makes for a great party.
Have the Bridal shower at breakfast time and tell everyone to come in their
PJs. This works best if it is a surprise for the Bride. Show up at her house
and surprise her with breakfast in bed and gifts for her new home!
Cookie Dough
Everyone loves cookies. So what a better idea than for everybody to bring
their favorite cookie dough to bake at the shower. This means that refreshments
are covered also. Asks guests to bring the recipe for their cookies to give
to the Bride.
Time of Day
Morning, Noon, Evening, Night- Different items are needed at different times
of the day. Assign each guest a time of day to coordinate her gift with. (Morning-
toothbrush holder, waffle-maker, Evening- Candle holders for a candle-lit
dinner)
Tool Party Theme
While it may not be the traditional shower theme, every couple needs a
screwdriver, first- aid kit and a flashlight. Tell everyone to come in
their work clothes or overalls and to bring a working gift.
Camping Guru
For the outdoors girl, throw a camping shower! Items such as a camp stove,
egg-carrier, camping dishes, environmental friendly soap and toilet paper
will all be greatly appreciated!
